Demons will return to see if their former home has been emptied again. Be careful to not return to old ways. To the point, demons cannot dwell in a place that is already filled.

Thus, to ensure that they cannot enter, simply be filled with the Holy Spirit. That is why Christians cannot be demon-possessed.

We must acknowledge that it is truly the Holy Spirit’s power, and only His power, that overcomes demonic darkness. Not even an archangel dared to confront the enemy alone.

“But even Michael, one of the mightiest of the angels, did not dare accuse the devil of blasphemy, but simply said, ‘The Lord rebuke you!’ (This took place when Michael was arguing with the devil about Moses’ body.)”

~ Jude 1:9

Furthermore, the Bible also speaks negatively of those who would mock demonic beings. For in the previous verse, the Scripture says,

“In the same way, these people—who claim authority from their dreams—live immoral lives, defy authority, and scoff at supernatural beings.”

~ Jude 1:8

Are we then to fear demonic beings? No, we have nothing to fear if we have the Holy Spirit within us. I write of demonic power so that you might understand, by comparison, the awesome strength of the Holy Spirit. They cower at His very nearness. They dissolve like sand formations under an ocean wave.

“For Jesus had already said to the spirit, ‘Come out of the man, you evil spirit.’ Then Jesus demanded, ‘What is your name?’ And he replied, ‘My name is Legion, because there are many of us inside this man.’ Then the evil spirits begged him again and again not to send them to some distant place.”

~ Mark 5:8-10

A Roman legion of soldiers could contain thousands of soldiers, at least, roughly five thousand. But the Holy Spirit carries such awesome authority that even five thousand demons were left begging on their knees at His mere presence. That same and only Holy Spirit resides in you.

“But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.”

~ 1 John 4:4

And it is by the Holy Spirit within us that we can operate in resisting prayer—prayer that resists the spiritual work of the enemy. With such prayer, we can pray for the following and more:

We can pray for others’ salvation (Romans 10:1)

We can pray for the safety of others (2 Corinthians 1:11

We can pray for cities (Jeremiah 29:7)

We can pray for the strengthening of others’ faith (Luke 22:32)

We can pray for authority figures (1 Timothy 2:2-3)

We can pray for the blessing of a nation (2 Chronicles 7:14)

We can pray for miracles (Acts 19:11-12)
